Lash Lifts // Lash Extensions: What's the Difference?

When you hear “lash lift” and “lash extensions,” do you ever wonder what the difference is? I know I have! Before I started on my lash extension journey, I can honestly say I never knew the difference between the two, and both sounded wonderful and like they would make getting ready easier (hint: they do!!). Below I am going to talk just a little bit about what the difference is between lash lifts and lash extensions, and some pro’s to each, and that way, if you are new to the lashing game, you can get a little bit more informed before you decide which service to get, because here at Sirene’s Beauty Place, we offer both, and much more!

LASH EXTENSIONS

WHAT ARE LASH EXTENSIONS? LASH EXTENSIONS ARE INDIVIDUAL STRANDS OF FIBERS MADE TO LOOK LIKE A NATURAL EYELASH. WHEN THEY ARE APPLIED, THEY LENGTHEN AND THICKEN YOUR OWN LASHES. THEY ARE APPLIED TO EACH INDIVIDUAL LASH. THEY LOOK GREAT AND FEEL COMPLETELY NATURAL. You literally don’t need makeup when you have extensions because they give you a look of already being “ready” for the day. They take about 2 hours to apply your first set, and about an hour for a fill.

HOW LONG DO LASH EXTENSIONS LAST? THIS VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON. THEY WILL LAST THE LENGTH OF THE NATURAL GROWTH CYCLE OF YOUR LASHES. THIS USUALLY IS BETWEEN 2-4 WEEKS FOR MOST, THEN A FILL WILL BE NEEDED. OUR MOST SEASONED CLIENTS CAN LAST UP TO 6 WEEKS BETWEEN FILLS.

LASH LIFTS

What’s a Lash Lift? A lash lift is a treatment that enhances your natural eye lashes that makes your eyes look wide awake. A Keratin based product is applied to each of your individual lashes. The product makes your lashes appear a little thicker and fuller, and also is the more natural-looking of the two. The process of getting a lash lift takes about 45 minutes to an hour from beginning to end.

How long does it last? Most lash lifts last anywhere from 6-8 weeks, and can look a little more dramatic with a lash tint as well. But just like lash most beauty treatments, how long it lasts varies from person to person.

Which is right for me? Honestly it’s up to you and your preferences. If you are going for more of a “natural beauty” type look, I would suggest a lash lift. It’s less invasive and less maintenance. If you are wanting something more dramatic and noticeable and that “wake up ready” look, lash extensions help you achieve that! Yes they are a little more maintenance, but they, in my opinion, are a total game-changer.
